That is a good question I think a lot of people would like to know. Maybe that could be a business, helping other people locate online home businesses :D

I think the think you have to locate is a product or service that you can provide at a price that can compete with Ebay, Yahoo Shopping, Amazon, Costco and local retailers. The prob with home business is if you are selling a product that is available elsewhere especially in local stores the price has to be low enough that a person would rather wait a few days to get it than pay more and get it now.

I would look into the arena a advice, oh damn you yahoo Answers.

seriously look into Yahoo Stores and try to go for products that are non-uncommon but somewhat difficult to locate. Specialty Items that people may not want to purchase looking somebdy in the face. Like Dungeons and Dragons Parafin.

go for the internet business which requires less of your time and the one that will not make you feel headache with web designing, or which require IT knowledge. Second, choose the internet based company which offer you the opportunity and at the same time giving you the convenience to start the business. Third, choose the business, which does not require big money to start it.

It depends what you are after. If you are looking to do medical trancriptions for instance, contact/ search some of the bigger employment websites.
Regardless of where or what you want to do, if "employers" are asking for a "fee" for supplies, etc; its probably a scam.
Like jobs in the "real world" it is going to take quite a bit of research and trial &error to find the one that is right for you.

You need to find a local business to work for that will allow you to work independantly from your home. Many Teleservices professionals are successfully working from their home computer and telephone instead of going into the office. If I wanted to work from my house that is the route I would pursue.
