I just watched the exorcism of Emily Rose and its always been something I've kinda been interested in. I believe in being possessed, but not in seeing "ghost" and talking to "the dead" or anything like that.

Please don't give me any vodo, witchcraft or anything like that I just want to know what people know about being possessed and exorcisms.

Thanks for all answers!

I just read Glimpses of the Devil, by M. Scott Peck (the guy who wrote The Road Less Traveled, among other things.) He comes off like a sanctimonious twit most of the time, but it's compelling reading--he was a Christian (he joined Christianity fairly late in life) psychiatrist (he just died recently) who performed two exorcisms. I also read, was it, Possessed? I think that's the name. It's about the case that The Exorcist was based on (it was actually a case with a boy and it was in another city, but it wasn't too far off in some other details.) They're pretty good and are very detailed.

Exorcisms is an ancient catholic rite. It is only performed if certain conditions are present. There must be unexplained movement of objects. An unearthly strength in the one possessed, speaking in tongues, knowledge that could not possibly known by the individual to name a few. The rite is performed by at least 2 preists. It can take anywhere from hours to days (like in the original exorcist (a true story)). It is a violent rite as well with the individual possibly causing harm to the priests or to himself. What being possessed means is that the persons body is taken over by some malevolent spirit. I personally don't believe that Lucifer would do it himself but would have a demon or imp possess someone. He is to busy. Anyways the persons body is controlled by this "spirit" and the person himself is pushed back and blocked from using their own mind or body. That explains the strength and knowledge and language.
Actual possession I believe to be vary rare, maybe .01% of those that act or claim to be are. The rest need serious mental help. Possession has nothing to do with ANY religious beliefs as anyone Christian, Muslim, Witch, or Athiest can be possessed. You cannot be possessed by using a ouija board (however a malevolent spirit can follow you home), or by any other form of divination. Noone knows exactly how one comes to be possessed by from all forms of records the most people that do are those that leave themselves open and vulnerable to a spirit possession. They are usually religious but have serious doubts and are looking for help from Any source, and are extremely weak both mentally and physically. Sinning doesn't do it, like I said noone one knows for sure. I hope this helps you.

The most powerful exorcism ritual is contained in the covenant of one-heaven

Contrary to pseudo-christian rituals and popcorn TV images, the ritual actually uses demons as well as angels under the power of a united force to compel any unwilling spirit from a person or house.

No other ritual has that kind of firepower.

possesion does exist and you simply have to see a priest when it happens to you.the demon or spirit which takes hold of you can be drove out by holy water,a number of crucifixes, and the bible.you really should believe in ghosts and the dead or they might claim your soul.

Long ago, just like the hearse you die to get in again
We are so far from you
Burning on just like the match you strike
To incinerate the lives of everyone you know
And what's the worst you take
From every heart you break
And like the blade you stake
Well I've been holding on tonight

What's the worst thing I can say?
Things are better if I stay.
So long, and goodnight
So long, and goodnight

Came a time
When every starfall brought you to tears again
We are the very hurt you sold
And what's the worst you take
From every heart you break
And like the blade you stake
Well I've been holding on tonight

What's the worst thing I can say?
Things are better if I stay.
So long and goodnight.
So long not goodnight.
Well if you carry on this way.
Things are better if I stay.
So long, and goodnight
So long, and goodnight

Can you hear me?
Are you near me?
Can we pretend
To leave? And then
We'll meet again.
When both our cars collide

What's the worst thing I can say?
Things are better if I stay.
So long, and goodnight
So long, not goodnight
Well if you carry on this way.
Things are better if I stay.
So long, and goodnight
So long, and goodnight

Don't worry, "possession" doesn't exist, hence exorcism isn't necessary. Just more religious hyperbole from a bunch of intolerant crack-pot religious cultists.

The Catholic church allows them in very rare cases. The subject has to have spoken in languages that he or she would not know otherwise. The subject also needs to exhibit unusual strength and have violent reactions to blessed objects or water..
