From my point of view, and I am white, Asians have been put-upon by the British for so long that they are finally free and proud of it.

This therefore means that they will look down on Afro-Carribeans because they were still regarded as lower class by the British when they "left" India and the sub-continent.

However, now that any white person calling a person from any other race by a derogatory name becomes a racist - why does it not work the other way around?

I have been called a "stupid Honky" by Afro-carribbeans and "ignorant Englishman" by Kosovans - and I cannot complain, but should I say that they need re-educating or to learn English now that they live in England, I am on a short-track to a court case!

OK - to start with , I am Asian!

The most f***ed up thing about racism is that people think that it only works one way.

I have had racist remarks form white people, black people, Spanish people and - low and behold - Asian people (due to having a British up bringing)!!!!

In my opinion - everyone is a racist. Some people choose to express their views verbally, some choose to express them physically - the bottom line is when all is said and done, racial ignorance is more common then we would like believe.

Its an incredibly ugly thing but this doesn't stop the fact that it exists. Its only by asking 'stupid' questions that we can learn to understand it.

Everyone is a potential racist and that everyone a potential victim!!!

Not really an answer to your question but perhaps a little explanation as to why people of any race feel more superior in their own surroundings to people who are just visiting...

U may be justified in having those vibes and concluding as u do. We can put the matter down to a factor of ignorance in the elder Indian Asians.
However, Blacks themselves have a problem with the Africa continent , always being shown as a hopeless case, due to their own well-to-do , not having a thought for their own poorer brethren.

I have a couple of asain friends. it is not that they look down on black people- its their culture. when mr friend gave birth to her child, the first question which was asked: Is it a boy? and the second: what colour is she?. her grandma reported that the child was 'as white as snow'. so you cannot go around hating these people, in their eyes and opinion white is better than black... I am very proud to be black and they are very shocked and cannot understand why I would be. but i am comfortable with me and i know that i am sexy, intelligent and will go far in life. you should not hate on them, let them see you shine and show them that to be 'kala' (black) is beautiful. later...

Blacks and asians have always had problems with each other ... and clearly you seem to have a problem with asians .

Asians also look down on each other , relating to the 'cast' system.

if its true, then shame to whosoever looks down on another race. each. race has its place of importance in Gods creation. jackie chan is asian and i like him, michael jordan is black and you like him, mel gibson is white and we like him. thats how the world should be: without racial barriers to friendship
