This is one I have had since before I started keeping the tags. The white flowers are just about to open, and they are on top of very strong stalks. Leaves are broadly ovate and they sit up strongly. I have a vague memory of the name being very plain, since it is not one of the newer sports.

Hi,
I think there's more than one kind that fits that description. I looked around online and found this page that may help you out. It has photos as well as names. It is:

15 years ago I bought a Hosta Book.At that time there were over 700 different types of Hosta. With hybridizing I am guessing that there are more. So if you can remember the garden center that you bought it from, chances are they carry the same types every year. Take a leaf and flower back to them for the I.D. or buy a Hosta book. I got mine at Barnes and Nobles!

Sum and Substance fits your description. It's been on the market for 5 years or so. There are several others, but S&S has the upright, giant leaves you describe and blooms white.
