Both are great films that you can watch again and again to try and work out what the writer was thinking...Not sure if this thread is aware that there is a different ending to the US version from the international English version....But the film that knocks your socks for trying to work out what is going on is memento....

Not really and I would say Donnie Darko is more complex, because with the Butterfly Effect, what you see is what you get, Donnie Darko goes much deeper than that.

I would not know because I got really lost in the Butterfly Effect and Donnie Darko. but in a way i would agree.

Haven't seen Donnie Darko but from what other people have told me, its as much of a headf*** film as The Butterfly Effect

I've just watched the butterfly effect and thought is was good but cant remember what donnie darko was about so thats a good enough reason for me to watch it again

i think donnie darko was more complex than the butterfly effect.. in the butterfly effect he was from a line of gifted people in donnie darko he totally transended time through a wormhole in the universe makin it a little more complex

Yes. Two films based on the same principle.

Personally I perfered the Butterfly Effect, and thought the end with the close up of the Baby in the mums womb was genius.

My only question is did his other siblings all come to the same conclusion and do the same thing, hence the 'not again' line from his mum.

donnie darko was good but i lost it on the butterfly effect, that film just messed up my head!!

I prefered the butterfly effect, felt i understood it better than donnie darko. I was amazed at how good ashton kutcher was in it, after having only seen him in comedy roles.

donnie darko is the coolest. i never saw the butterfly effect though, maybe ill check it out.
