The first soap opera I got hooked on was "Ryan's Hope" (I loved the Irish characters & that crazy chick Delia Reid). My love affair with "Ryan's Hope" ended abruptly when they did some weird storyline about Delia & King Kong.
Then I eventually got hooked on "Days of our Lives." It got pretty weird a few times, but I kept coming back to it. I always found it rather interesting that I could stop watching it for months, then turn it back on & pick up almost exactly where I left off.
In college, everybody in the student lounge wanted to watch "The Young & the Restless," so I'd have to tape "Days of our Lives" on my VCR & watch 'em when I got home.
Oh, and I loved that '70s comedy "Soap" with Billy Crystal, Richard Mulligan & that red-haired actress (I forgot her name).
But now I don't watch any soap operas. In fact, if I ever really felt an urge to witness one, I'd either go to the office or log onto some gay chat room online lol

Yes, my babysitter got me hooked - Ryan's Hope, All My Children, One Life to Live, General Hospital, and The Edge of Night. And since we didn't have VCRs back then, my entire day, 5 days a week, was taken up by ABC soap operas. I wasn't cured until I went back to school in the Fall.
Then in the Summer right before the 6th grade, a friend of mine got me hooked on The Young And The Restless which got me started all over again - The Young And The Restless (Ryan's Hope had been canceled), All My Children, One Life to Live, General Hospital, and The Edge of Night. I had it bad that time. The Summer story lines were about to be resolved right when school started so I faked being sick for a week just so I could stay home and watch how they ended.
Originally, I was hooked on 5 soaps a day but 2 of them were only 30 minute shows (Ryan's Hope and The Edge of Night, I think). Now I just watch All My Children, One Life to Live, and General Hospital. But I have the addiction under control thanks to my DVR.

some cleansing soap operas are basically like the life that they are residing or area of them is a reminder of previous. Others ought to be mad with the aid of fact unknown to those who watch soaps how lots of them impact there lives and what i propose replica. I beleive soaps could be risky as violents can and then we ask why there is plenty crime.

No, luckily I have never been addicted to anything, and soap operas would be about the lowest addiction you could get.

I really don't see what others see when it comes to soaps. All the women in my family watch them but me. I don't get it.
