Well, first of all, most Gays are not angry....in fact, they are pretty happy in their own skin. But, if you had thought about your question before you posted, you would have noticed the "rights related issues" is a glaring reason for Gays to take offense. You need look no farther than this site to see so much hate ... fortunately, from very few people...directed towards them. The ultimate revenge that Gays have is that.....they are basically good looking people who take care of their bodies, take their jobs seriously, are often self-employed, have a good career, take care of their money, own very nice houses, start trends the Straights follow after about 3 years, drive nice, if not downright great cars, enjoy life as it comes....with all this in mind, take a look at the average blue-collar guy in a sh*t job, always behind in his payments, over extended in every financial area you can think of, credit cards maxed out, and you will see why they resent Gays. The fact that Gays often will do without to get where they want to go has nothing to do with these people's logic...they have no logic, yet want to steep insults, deny rights , etc. to Gays. I suspect that if you were in my shoes, you would be a very happy guy, but at times, get pissed at the idiots who post their hate here. IN fact, I suspect you would react more violently than most Gays do. Please notice, I am not angry, I am simply telling it as it is. When everyone has equal rights, there will be no issues to be angry about. IF you were to pay the taxes I pay, and not be able to claim what you can claim on your returns, you would be angry as hell at the Federal Government...that is for sure. In order for me NOT to get angry at this treatment, I just make more piles of money to counteract the unfairness of the present rules. That is my revenge, and I laugh all the way to the bank...Angry...hell no!

Myth: GLBT people aren’t happy. In 1994, the American Medical Association released a statement saying, “Most of the emotional disturbance experienced by gay men and lesbians around their sexual identity is not based on physiological causes but rather is due more to a sense of alienation in an unaccepting environment.” What that means is that the discrimination and stress that GLBT people face is the root cause of a great deal of pain for many GLBT people. That pain can be alleviated by knowing that there is a vibrant, growing community of GLBT and straight-supportive Americans who know and care about GLBT people and the issues they face.

I am happy. Rarely am I angry or upset. I do, however, get annoyed about why so many people dislike us, or hate us, hurt us, or even kill us. it's our right to live safe and happy... yet people have taken away that right... when we have little rights in the firstplace. Like in Australia, it was only in 1984 that homosexuality was decriminalised... that was only 22 years ago... i was lucky that happened before my birth or else i'd be in prison... i'd be a criminal because of a preference... i just don't understand the world... which is sad because i'm trying to help make it a better place...

I'm generally not angry, but the current administration spews hate toward homosexuals and a great majority of our fellow countrymen seem to have forgotten what makes America stand out among nations.
Somewhere there is a dusty, dirty old piece of paper that reads "ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL", however some of those men (and women) are not allowed to marry the person that they love, are not allowed to adopt and raise families, and are not allowed to inherit the property and possessions of their chosen loved ones.
That same administration even went so far as to suggest altering that dusty, dirty old piece of paper, by amending that you have to be heterosexual to be equal to your fellow man. And the mindless sheep that follow him go blindly into oblivion forgetting that basic ideology that all men are created equal.
I apologize if that sounded a little too preachy, but I hope that I've expressed a point into some basics that you can help re-open the minds of some of those mindless sheep.... Thanks for your question....

Well, let's see... would you be happy if you were persecuted, told you are immoral, denied the right to be legaly bound to your lover, be told that you cannot have children... have that constant threat of violence looming over you for your differences, or have that risk of loosing your job because of who you are in love with? Being gay is a hard thing to endure... and many gay people are happy... but many are not... and with the current state of things, I'm inclined to understand why.

"Well, yes, "gay" is great. It has its place. But when a lot of lesbians and gay men wake up in the morning we feel angry and disgusted, not gay. So we've chosen to call ourselves queer. Using "queer" is a way of reminding us how we are perceived by the rest of the world. It's a way of telling ourselves we don't have to be witty and charming people who keep our lives discreet and marginalized in the straight world. We use queer as gay men loving lesbians and lesbians loving being queer. Queer, unlike gay, doesn't mean male."
Excerpted from the queer nation manifesto. Read the rest of it if you want to know why we're angry.

if government and society treated you like a second class citizen, and were always trying to pass/change laws to make sure you were prevented from having equal rights, you might be a little angry, too. women, racial and religious minorities have had to deal and still deal with equal rights issues as well.

but, we are not always angry, all the time, if that's what you assume. i have great friends and family and a wonderful committed relationship. I am very happy with my life.

Well, I don't think all of them are.

I think lots of them are quite satisfied, and actually their rights are increasing all the time. People are more and more accepting of that lifestyle. Most of us know at least one person who is gay, and have found that they can be very nice people.

Some are angry because they want to be equal to others. They get offended when people insult them and call them perverts.

Anybody would be angry about that.

I am not gay but I think it is because so many people hate gays and have been discriminating against them and perpetrating violence against gay people. They want their rights like everybody else. It was enough to make black people angry. I guess it should be enough to make gay people angry too.

Oh this is a really hard question
See when you're gay....you know that you are BORN gay...
Happy? Yes when you're gay you're happy especially durin sexual relations and stuff like that....but deep inside each one he/she knows that being gay is hard...he/she is not like other straight people....As for rights.....not all of gay people stick to them
