Source: my own experience of being raped and sodomized as a child.
I think the punish should be commensurable with the crime.
Would you rather be raped or tortured to death over say three weeks?
Are there different degrees of rape? How about rape through the threat of force and the very violent rape (where the victim is beaten into submission) are these different?
How about the guy that gets a girl drunk so he can have sex with her while she is of a diminished mental capacity?
What about statutory rape where the boy is 14 and the woman is 19 or 35?
I take it that you have been raped and are near the end of your life since you seem to KNOW that the victim is effected for life or are you just spouting something that you have heard and are now looking to fuel your self righteous indignation against the latest news release by again asking this stupid question that has been answered to death?
We have laws on the books for both of the crimes that you asked about written by people NOT MUCH SMARTER than you seem to be. Who, by the way, cater to voters of your elk .
So to answer your question Rape 10 years, Rape( under 13 ) 15 to life with eligibility for parole after 10 years.

Apparently you've never worked with or known a rehabilitated pedophile or rapist. And yes some victims are AFFECTED for life, however some are not. If you feel you have been AFFECTED by your sisters' victimization, maybe you should contact a psychologist or psychiatrist and speak with them about counseling.
Not all sex crimes are perpetrated by pedophiles or rapists. Some are perpetrated by sex hungry teens who feel they are 'in love' and are performing a natural human act. They just couldn't wait until the legal age setup by people to procreate.
If you really want to do society a favor, take care of yourself now. Get counseling if you need it. Educate yourself about pedophiles, rapists and other sex offenders. Learn about current theories on rehabilitation. Find out what precautions are being taken to keep you and your kids safe. Then let other people know how they could help themselves and their kids by not putting a damned computer in the kids room and letting them be online unsupervised as much as they wish. Also learn why sex crimes happen and what leads criminals to their illegal actions.
What should be the punishment for parents who had kids and let them do things that common sense and a little bit of education would make them feel was actually not ok?
The criminals are to blame for their crimes and no one else. However, all parents should be a little more aware of what the hell is out there in the world.
For the women, men and kids who have been sexually abused or raped, you have my deepest sympathies.
For the innocent people who have had their lives ruined because of the hysteria running through this country over sex crimes, you also have my sympathy.

I,ve thought about this every time I pick up our local newspaper and see some one hurt and wonder how I,d feel if it were mine.Very hurt, I ,ve thought of a lot of things which for one reason or another wouldn,t work and after all they are people which most have familys whom love and hate them at the same time. I think they should be placed on an island miles from anywhere with noway off to start their own town and live with each other away from all of us and our kids like that prison which sets on an island some place.

Yes I agree an eye for an eye, but I still cant think of a punishment good enough for these sort of vermin, slow torture would be nice, because there is no way that rehabilitation works, many have got out after rehab and commited the same crime! So I keep it slow and painfull!!...

I'd say torture, but that's extreme. The reason I'd say torture is because I was/am a victim. The person was in jail prior to my experience. He went there for 12 got out for good behavior after 9(he was in jail for doing stuff to his niece and nephew I think). And that's when it begin. He went back to jail for the remainder of his sentence for 'molesting' 3 girls(not me-I never told). So he went back for 3 years. Justice? I think not. I'm not sure what he deserved but 3 years is nothing. He should have been tortured or something(he's the kinda sick person whom would like the 'fun' in jail cells with others). so Life in prison or death seems fine, but there's no validation there. The person should get some sort of torture. something they wouldn't enjoy. IMHO

UK: I used to do a lecture to Community Groups on Child Abuse but had to give it up after hearing the stories from people of all ages. It broke my heart. Women in their sixties telling me, the first person ever to be told, of things done to them when they were under 10 years old. Police officers telling me of things that had happened to them. All types of people. Like the Asker, I firmly believe, and there appears to be proof, that pedophiles cannot be cured of their habits. They cannot see anything wrong with things they do to children as young as six months old. I have advocated that in this age of forensic examinations and DNA testing, all persons, male or female, who are found guilty of a serious sexual offense against a child under the age of ten years should receive capital punishment. Such a pervert is no better than the worst animal and should be put to sleep in whatever means the State determines. It is a plague to our society and it appears that we are doing little or nothing about it.......

I think if it involves a child than the death penalty. The reason is because that child will never have any thing that resembled a normal life. Against an adult I think life in prison would be enough. Adults although traumatized have at least a chance of some type of rational thinking that will better help in coping.

I don't think there will ever be a good enough punishment for these sex offenders. All we can hope for is that everyone who has been sexually assualted comes forward and brings justice. Every jury member should put themselves in the victims shoes and find the defendent GUILTY. We can also hope for laws that will put them behind bars for life with no parole.

I think they should get an expedited death sentence. I don't want my tax money paying for them to remain in Jail for the rest of their life and , like you said, there is no rehabilitation for that so just Kill them! I also don't want them to sit in Jail and try to appeal for years so that's why I said " expedited". I have children and I have no remorse for things like that! My reasoning is because when I was 7 a friends father " took advantage" of me, and 5 other friends. We are all in therapy, and very messed up tp the day. None of us have normal lives, or relationships, we will never be able to heal totally. I know I can't break my emotional wall down, and for that my husband and family suffer also. Kill them!

He needs to bypass to penal complex ! He has saved away from it a majority of those years ! I observed a clip of The View as we talk and whoppi exchange into protecting him asserting it incredibly wasn't rape ! I swear she has burned out her strategies ! the girl exchange into 13 freekin years previous ! firewoman I understand her no longer desirous to do something approximately it now , yet that isn't what the regulation says ! you won't be in a position of set that precedent !
