Ignorance and a lack of background knowledge. Fear on the unknown drives alot of hatred

It's not right, but you are not asking if we think it's right. You are asking what makes people do that, so here's my theory:

I think it happens because people are taught to learn from their mistakes and mishaps. You touch a lightbulb, it burns your fingers, Mommy hollers never do that again... and you don't. If you have any sense of self-preservation.

When I was a little girl, I lived in a small town which was 100% white. I did not know any black people, except the kindly old black elevator operator that I saw when I went to the city to shop with my Mom.

Then as I grew a little older, suddenly there were gangs of black people on the television in my living room. They were rioting! They were killing people, and all sorts of horrible things. That made an impression on my young mind.

It is this type of thing that causes prejudice, unfortunately. And it goes both ways, and every which way. Discrimination is inherently a GOOD thing: it keeps us from stumbling into situations that may cause adverse results. However, it can also be a bad thing, because people tend to discriminate against others, based on a majority behavior.

This is why so many people are afraid of Muslims now. The sight of airplanes being flown into skyscrapers is indelibly etched in our brains.

People are fearful or things they don't know about. Ignorance can be extremely detrimental or unintentionally hurt of other people. Given their position in life or sexual orientation. We as a society should pay more attention on educating people on alternative lifestyles and or cultures. The mass majority doesn't consider that they could have been in that category.;

Because people judge others and things based on how they feel, what they see, hear and have learned. Sad to say, but humans are prone to doing this and if we all lived by the idiom, "Don't judge a book by its cover." the world would probably be a much better place.

There is no one answer to your questions, you can do your part in stopping hatred, spreading the words of love, peace, understanding and compassion. Reach out to those you don't know, really listen to them and don't be afraid of being judged yourself. We fear what we don't know or understand.

Most folks hate out of fear, ignorance, and just plain stubborness. Some people use religion and the Bible as an excuse to hate, while others use other forms of hateful rhetoric to spread their agenda.

I don't know..but I don't think it's a simple answer....I think fear has a great deal to do with it...I think also that one has to be taught to fear and hate.....I think some people cover their own feeling of inferiority behind a mask of hate...I think other people hate because it seems to be the trendy group to hate...I think the reasons are many.

Ignorance, so keep learning, so we can get there a head, and ready to grow, perhaps after that we can multiply safely, not just physically but also our own spiritual essences, out way's from matter's, and substances.

Hate is a powerful word. I don't hate anything. I don't judge people that I don't know. If I don't like someone I distance myself from that person. You can't say you don't like someone if you don't know them. That is stupid.
