Well, you need to start putting forth a genuine effort like helping people, being kind and compassionate to those in need, and just being a good person. But when you do these acts of kindness, they have to be sincere and genuine, not just some feeble attempt to relieve bad karma. That is the whole point about doing good things, do them without thought of personal gain or reward and you'll see a difference.
Also, pray and ask the Goddess or which ever deity you pray to for guidance and strength to accomplish what you know you need to do.
Brightest blessings!

All we say and do is written up in the Akashik record. A spiritual book of our deeds as it were. Once a deed be it good or bad is done it is done. The only way to take care of "bad karma" is to do good. But keep in mind to do it solely for the sake of ridding yourself of bad karma also creates bad karma. It is self serving. Just start being a productive, and caring individual because that is what you are supposed to be. After a while it will be second nature and you will not have to think about it. The more good karma you gather up the more it offsets the bad. Pretty soon all the good works you do will outweigh the bad and it will no longer matter. Keep in mind that thoughts and words as well create Karma. So watch your temper and your words.

Good Karma and Bad Karma aren't decided by one or two actions. If you have been living a lifestyle where every day you made a significant lie or you disrespected someone bad Karma will follow you. The only way to reverse it is to begin doing good things. Most of the "Spiritual Gods" love outdoorsy type penances. Try planting a garden for your grandparents or at your home, do aroma therapy, light incense at night and a candle in the day. Good Karma is Hard to keep, but once you've got it...It feels good!
Blessed Be!

You have to learn from the bad karma. That way, you get advanced enough to do good things and build up some good karma. Try to make up for the bad karma if you can--help more, apologize, be more humble. Don't get too bogged down in past mistakes, though--guilt is just feeling sorry for yourself and focusing on how bad you are instead of changing your behavior.

I am a hindu. So Karma is my specialty. So simply put, only way to stop bad karma is to stop believing in it. But no matter what, "what goes around, comes back around." Bad karma will always come back at you. so if you stop believing in karma, and start blaming other things, bad karma won't be your problem. Something else would be....

Actually Karma only helps you when you're reincarnated, to come back as something on a higher or lower order than what you are now. You're not having bad karma, you're just having bad luck.

You need to start doing good deeds. Either that or in a previous life, you did some naughty things and you have to repay the universe before you can start earning positive karma.

I find that a dose of Karmalax helps wonders. You can be a nasty, ill-behaved, self-centered bee-yatch 24-7, and one good dose of Karmalax (a Johnson&Johnson product) and your Karma is clean and shiny.
Just be sure to light a match before you leave the john.

Karma happens for a very good reason. It teaches us that we are indeed One with everything, that we experience the fruit of our actions. All that we do, think, speak, act, behave, react, etc. has a ripple effect. Throw a stone into a lake, and what occurs as a result? These ripple effects on the surface of the water come right back to you, do they not? All energy is like that.
That is great that you are now much more aware of what you are creating. Now is the time to ask yourself "What kind of consequenes do I want to create as a result?" Having this awareness is a step towards inner peace.
The next step to creating peace for yourself is being much more conscious of every thought you think, of every word you speak, of every reaction you give, of how you behave, and of every action you do. These things at the moment will already begin to create a peaceful future for you.
As for the past consequences that you are dealing with right now, there are several things you can do, you can do selfless service with love, find something to volunteer that you would enjoy with love because love itself creates more love in your life attracting it even more. This is what Amma teaches us.
The other option is to get a Jyotish/Vedic reading. These are amazing. Vedic astrology is very specific about everything in our life and it is our planets that causes these karmic cycles. These readings will look into what areas and when these karmic effects will occur. And then you can have these effects lessened by ordering a "puja" that are done in temples in India or USA in your name. You can also get a mantra for the specific karma to chant often to lessen their effects. They do work. It is gaining favor with the planet deities. If you are curious about it and would like to learn a little bit more about this subject, there is this website that you can get your free birthstar and other free reports to get some idea of what karmic activity is occuring at the moment or will soon happen. http://www.astroved.com Read all of the free reports after inputting your birth information. It's fascinating.
The other thing that can help the most is to go receive your embrace "darshan" with Amma the hugging saint. What she does when she holds you tightly, she removes some of the karmic debts you have not yet paid. She sort of cleans out the unnecessary clutter in your soul to help make your spiritual path a lot more easier, but she won't remove all of it because some of it is there for a very good purpose to teach us things about ourselves. Yet, Amma does this out of her Unconditional Love for all of Her children on this planet. This is God's Love, gift for us through Her. If you need more details about that, just send me a message through my profile.
