I say go to the party, and tell your friend that you have other plans if they ask if you are going to a party then tell them yes otherwise don't bring it up.

Here's what you need to do: you need to tell her,
'Look, Lorraine, I'm sorry, but I can't hang out with you that night! I'm busy.' If 'Lorraine' asks you what you are doing, don't make up a lie, tell her the truth. 'I am going to a party.' You shuldn't lie to her, she needs to know the truth (But only if she specifically asks) don't bring up the subject, but if she does tell her that you are going to a party, and she can not come.

Well the person having the party, is he/she a better friend than the girl? If you were truley her friend you would skip the party and totally hang out with her that night

I would either ask about bringing her or I would not go to the party, but I am more inclined to empathize with other people. I don't think lying is ever the answer, but if you are only considering those two options, you have to do what works for you.

I think that u should just tell her because most of the time when you lie they end up finding out anyways and it makes it worse so just tell her the truth
