My daughter has a real bad case of acne, we have tried everything from doctors to acne medications, nothing seems helps. I saw this infomercial on tv, and just want to see if it works,
and is it safe?

I am just starting it out, it is beginning to work after about a month, but I am not totally sure yet. I am going to try it out for another month because they say you need to give the product at least 6 weeks before your skin clears. I have heard from countless people that it works wonders, it is a bit pricey but if it is helping people feel better about themselves I say, why not?

So far I have had no bad side effects, my skin type is moderate acne and really oily.

I would definitely give it a try, you can buy a 30-day trial period on their website for about half the price.

Or, if you don't want to spend so much, you can buy AcneFree at drugstores at a much cheaper price. I hear these work just as well (but to be honest, the Proactiv does smell alot better.)

Good luck!

It works for some people, but it is by no means a 'miracle product' or anything. I think the reason it usually works well is because it is a skincare SYSTEM and not just a cream. However, I think Proactiv is majorly overpriced. You can create your own skincare system and get virtually the same results for *much* less.

All you need is:
1. Toner or astringent (witch hazel works well)
2. a good gentle cleanser (I recommend Cetaphil or Neutrogena)
3. benzoyl peroxide cream (found in proactiv repair lotion). I recommend starting out with 2.5% and moving up to 10%
4. Moisturizer (optional) If your daughter has dry skin, she will need moisturizer because the peroxide can be drying.

All of these products can be bought at Wal-Mart or any drugstore for about 10 dollars total.

The products should be used in the order I listed for best results. Follow this twice a day and it WILL work. Make sure skin is dry before applying the cream and remember to let the benzoyl peroxide cream "soak in" before applying any moisturizer.

See this site for more info and tips on this system:

There is a proactive knock off sold at Target and Walmart that is much cheaper and works really well. Both my teens had acne, but have had much success with this product. It's called:

Acne Free, and it's less than $20. It includes 3 products, including a cleanser.

Really does clear up the acne, and occasional breaks are farther and fewer between. Good luck.

by the way - don't use colored towels/washclothes with that stuff. It bleaches them out. Use plain white. My kids faces look great - but my towels are hideous! LOL, but true!

YES!!!!! Proactive is a Life Saver for people will really bad acne. My friends had bad acne, and nothing worked but Proactiv..but just be careful to use only a TINY bit of the Proactiv soap and Lotion, because using too much can burn sensitive skin...The soap works GREAT..

Also, buy some jumbo size cotton balls & Ivory Soap.. Tell your daughter to scrub her face with the cotton balls & ivory soap (glide the cotton across the soap bar when its wet)....and look at the cotton balls every 3 seconds or so.... If the cotton gets really dirrty--that means her face is dirty and she needs to srcrub it clean.

It works for some people. Some folks are sensitive to benzoyl peroxide. That's a problem since benzoyl is the acne killer. I tried and it dried out my face. Now I use a baking soda scrub. Its ok, but i still have marks and spots from old acne.

My friend had used it, and it didn't work for her, and she has moderate skin.
My advice is to see what's the main cause of your daughter's acne, and see which medication is best suited for it, instaed of using a brand-name product that might not work for her skin type, go and find out what will work for her, not nessicaraly what works for other people.

I tried it and found it to be a tad harsh on my skin...but I also have very sensitive skin, especially on the cheek areas. My brother still uses it and it has worked wonders for him for years. Try it!

I had a friend that used it she said it worked but when she ran out and had to wait for the shipment her skin got bad again. So you have to use it continously.
