We need to know how much sandy loam mix you have that you have to incorporate 5 gal of soil mix. Is the sandy loam mix in a container, a raised bed or potting bed, or already a part of your landscape? Are you trying to modify existing beds with sand and loam? Sometimes there are other ingredients you can add to change the soil's composition. For instance, to decrease the negative effect of too much clay in your soil, you can add gypsum, which changes the negative ions to positive ions and makes the soil less compact.
