Ultimately, humans have a choice about how they will live their lives. With the exception of a few unfortunate individuals, too ill to care for themselves, everyone in this country has the opportunity to better themselves.
And, programs do exist. There is plenty of money out there, you just need to know where to look. Problem is people are too prideful to take the offered help or too lazy to look for it.
Animals, on the other hand, have no choices. No reasoning ability to make the choices if they had some. They are completely under the care and at the mercy of humans. Not just pets, wild animals are hunted and developed out of their natural habitats without their permission or involvement in the decision making process.
That is why I sympathize more with the plight of animals than I do with people.

Like many have said there are many organisatins for the help of people all over the world The United Nations, the European Court of Human rights, NSPCC, Social Services, Police, Ambulance service, Fire Service, Bono, Bod Geldoff....the list goes on. Billions of pounds each year goes to help countries to try and get out of poverty, to produce clean water, and teach how to grow food and create industry. But corruption is rife in thse needy countries so the money does not get to the right people
Most if not all are given governmental funding in financing operations and keeping equipment in tip top condition.
Animals which need help because of being endangered, mistreatd, abused, tortured all because of humans have to rely on the good will of people who put thier hand in thier pockets for spare change to give to animal charities like the RSPCA, SSPCA and other animal shelters and animal hospitals, who give needed care to animals. Non of the lottery money goes to animal charities, infact where does the lottery money go?.
The human plight is more obvious because it is dramatised on TV, and animals cant put thier plight across to the average joe public.
So to put it another way, why aren't humans doing more to stop the misery they cause animals.

animals need help too. i certainly could not ignore a sick or injured animal anymore than i could a child!! but your missing the point here, if it were not for the animal organizations like DOGS TRUST, THE BATTERSEA DOGS HOME, and THE CATS PROTECTION LEAGUE. E.T.C. we would be overun with unwanted dogs and cats. THEY at least make sure they are neutured , therefore controlling the domestic animal population. the local councils are not really the greatest at handling these matters, but there are experts that can, but they need help to do it. they cannot run these places on fresh air! like it or not ,we do have an animal population and it's up to us as sensible human beings with a bit of compassion for ALL living things ( human or otherwise ) to help where we can!! as for the wild animals ,many are close to extinction ( it's mostly OUR fault ) it is also up to us as temporary keepers on this earth to make sure the next and future generations are not deprived of experiencing these magnificent beings! it IS after all, part of nature and the whole eco system, there are charities for everyone and everything and it's certainly nice to know that there are people out there doing their bit to help all KINDS of life . hope this helps bye for now............

People are devious, manipulative and darn right rude, they steal, murder and lie. Which animal does those things?
There are more humans helping other humans and only a small amount helping animals. If there were two collection boxes next to each other - one for humans and the other for animals my money would go into the animal box. Sorry if I offend but like I said, humans get a lot of help already.

Animals are innocent and need humans to look after them,i would give all my money to an animal charity any day.The majority of humans cause nothing but suffering to themselves and the suffering of animals, this is why these animal charities are set up,because of evil people who torture and reject them.wake up and smell the coffee, people are the cause of the earths problems.

I care for humans as well as animals but our own government seems more bothered about helping other countries than helping our own, there are peolple in the uk who need help so when we give to charities do the needy here really get it, and a lot of people can help them selves animals rely on us to help them.

YOU should be upset with BUSH for spending millions on wars and arms!!!do you know how many people could be saved with that money???but you worry about the small amount of money these poor shelters get to eaze the misery of some poor creature???shame on you!!!

Because animals are way better than people in every way, shape and form. Mostly, it's peoples own fault the situation that they are in, but what can an animal do to deserve it? I have never donated to any people charities, but I have donated a few dollars to animal charities every time I see a donation box. I do hate peta though...

I see your point. I love animals but I agree people are more important. Donations for animals are important too. People (not children but adults) can be taught to help themselves and there are programs for them. Animals can never take care of themselves.
Think of it this way. People who like animals better then people will not make donations to programs for people anyway, so nothing is lost.

Dude....has an animal ever cheated on your g/f, or stabbed you in the back, or sote from you, hurt you, tried to kill you...animals were put her for human companionship, why shouildnt we help them, look what the provide for our parents and grandparents in nursing homes, those old ppl that we love have a whole new meaning when they are able to pet and take care of these animals..all creatures need help. and as far as humans, yes we need help to, but every living creature does..my beef is simular to yours tho...why cant we just take care of the ppl in our own country instead of the other ones , then mayb we could provide for both animals and humans,
