I work at Save-on-foods and I hate my job sooooo much! I want to quit, but I need money so I can save to back to Japan. My motivation to go back to Japan and see my family and friends is soo strong, and my job is really testing my motivation. What should I do?

I would only quit if another job is lined up and waiting for you. Cause if you quit, and can't find another job, and since it sounds like you need the money, how are you going to get by? You could probably try crawling back to that job, but most people don't want to do something like that (especially if they "burned their bridges" on the way out, like telling off a manager).

For now, suck it up, and drive on. There are worse jobs out there, and you should be glad that you're working at least (there are plenty of people who would love to take your job).

*LOL*
I know EXACTLY how you feel about Japan--- I was raised there as a kid and LOVED IT!!! I'd go back right now if I could (I've got some family in Osaka but grew up in Sasebo, Nagasaki-ken).

Hate to say it, but stick with the job and put $$$ aside for the plane home. On your days off take a look around for better paying jobs but don't quit til you get one. Or work both--- make more $$$. It's only temporary anyway (and don't tell your co-workers or employers your plans or how you really feel).
In the meantime, get in touch with local Japanese communities. It'll bridge the gap you feel, make you less homesick.
O-bon's coming up; Japanese communities always have something going on, festivals, all that.

Good luck and I wish I could go, too!!!

Get out some paper and make a decision chart.
What are the positive things about staying with the job?
Money? Hours? Commute? Atmosphere? People? Management? Environment? Benefits? Room for advancement?
Training opportunities?

What are some of the negatives of staying?
Physical or psychological strain? Boredom? Lack of challenge?
No advancement?

What are your options?
Get another job?
Go back to school?
Live off of savings?

Lay it all out and give yourself time to think of all you need to keep your life in proper balance.

It's easier to find a job when you already have a job. Start looking for something you like better, then quit.

There are always more jobs. Life is too short to work at a job you hate.

you better ask yourself if you really hate your job or you only miss your family in japan and you can't seriously focus on your job.

Never quit your job unless you have another lined up.
