It's dumb. The minimum wage is not supposed to be something to support a family on. It's for new workers like teenagers to make some money. However, what people fail to realize is that unions base their wages on the minimum wage. Take for example the post office. If the minimum wage is raised, the price of stamps will go up proportionally.
Where do we stop? Why not make it $10? Why not $20? Raising the minimum wage does nothing but cause inflation. Leave it alone and get an education so you're not working at a minimum wage job for the rest of your life.

The cycle will perpetuate, yet i think of we would desire to strengthen the minimum salary. i in my view do no longer think of that human beings would get a truthful shake if there became no minimum. maximum companies are ruthless while it includes the base line. If the minimum salary is going up and companies hire fewer human beings, then greater human beings would be out of artwork and much less human beings could have the means to purchase the products those companies produce. finally, that they had would desire to cave and hire greater human beings (on the better minimum salary) as a manner to stimulate the economic equipment sufficient for human beings to purchase their products. The vicious cycle can chew the corporate butt, too. What we would desire to do is keep jobs in united states of america. we would desire to discover the thank you to maintain companies from going foreign places to have their products made. the cheap hard artwork in international places without minimum wages or protections like OSHA is what's killing American jobs. If it wasn't so inexpensive to circulate foreign places or over the border, then companies does not hassle and jobs would stay interior the U.S.

That will help nothing. There are plenty of $8-$9 hour jobs out there. But try raising a family or have a life on that salary. The only people that helps is kids out of high school. I can't live on that.

It's long over due. I make way above this but I see alot of families struggling to make ends meet because of the current wage, some even have to hold more than one job just to make ends meet and this isn't right.

I hate the idea of it. Government should stay out of these types of things. If a company doesn't pay enough for you, you should get a job somewhere else, or get more education. No one is forcing you to work there.

I think it's a great idea. With the cost of gas, groceries, etc. continuing to increase, it's very hard for people to make it financially. Any increase in pay is better than nothing at all.

Doesn't matter. If min wage goes up, so will prices. Min. wage was NEVER MEANT to be a living wage. People need to get over that.

It makes me sooo glad I finished high school and college and don't have to personally care about that number. It would mean homelessness in the SF bay area.
