I am graduating high school at the age of 16. I'm going to real estate school when i'm 18. In the meantime, I have 3 options:
1.) Get a job and work for 2 yrs
2.) Travel and have fun
3.) Get an Associate's degree that I'll probably never use

What should i do?

I think you should get a job and save up for real estate school.

1)Getting a job now could be useful depending on do you need to work now to pay for bills? or if you are good about saving money you can start working now and save money so you wont have to work/or work as hard when you go to school in two years.

2)Traveling and having fun would be good so you can "live" life before starting school, and find more options to what life has to offer and other options for possible careers. But a problem here is do you have the money to travel and have fun without a job to pay for it?

3)Getting an associate's degree or going to like a communtiy college now you can knock the basic requirements out of the way if you choose to go to a university when you are 18 and would be a lot cheaper. However, some credits dont transfer and going to school at such a young age what you are interested in now could change in the next few years(3 in 4 college students change their major at lease once before graduating).

My advice is to have fun while you can. If you have a 2 year break inbetween school then have fun. Even when you are in real estate school have fun(not too much fun though). Getting a job at 16 has its advantages and disavantages. I started working when I was 15 and have been since(now I'm 20). Working constantly can give you great discipline. Also getting a regular job before any higher education: trade school, college, ect... you will see how hard it is to make it in the world without an education and will kinda motivate you to do better in school. However, you do need to enjoy yourself I've missed out on going out with my friends alot due to the fact that I was either at work or at school. My opinion if you dont NEED to work right now dont or just work a little and enjoy yourself cause once you start your career you have the rest of your life to work. Enjoy your youth because you'll never get it back.

And by traveling and having fun you can "find" yourself and pick a career that is best for you. And I'm sure something has drawn you to real estate but theres a great chance you will change your mind. I'm a stubborn person and didnt want to change my major from engineering because its something I wanted to do since I was 15 and I didnt want to be the average person who changes their major, but I ended up changing it twice now I very happy with Linguistics/Anthropology. And that came about when I took a trip to Mexico and Puerto Rico and I started to be fascinated in others culture and language.

This, like most other life questions, depends more on who the person asking the question is. If you are attending real estate school for personal reasons (interest in, love of, unbelievable opportunity that you believe in), then the answer lies in getting a job. 2 years of job experience, full time, in something sales and commission based, will prepare you for the realities of adult life, your work environment, and the grind of modern American culture far better than visiting foreign countries trying to get wasted legally and learning just enough of the language to forget it when visiting the next dialect.
Associates degrees are jokes, you're right. It is essentially the longest most comprehensive application process to gain entrance to real college, for a real degree.
If you are a person that actually knows ones self, truly wants to succeed in this venture, then be level headed until you sell enough McMansions to the same 300 people over and over, making you rich enough to sell your clent list at 42 years old, and then chill for the next 50 years, doing whatever you truly want, which at 42 hopefully is far more developed and true to yourself then it was at age 16. Not that teenagers can't be intelligent and mature, it's just that in most cases, the world hasn't had a chance to teach you much yet firsthand. If it had, you'd be more confident on how to proceed in this case.

Get the Associates degree. It's REALLY hard to go back to school once you stop. You'll use the degree. Education is power.

Don't waste your time getting a degree in something you'll never use. Have fun and travel and get a part time job, i guess.
