Yes. It was better that way little did everyone know, divorce rates not high, children behaved well because of the excellent HOME MAKING that was provided. Oh well. It was made like that for a reason it was put in the bible for a reason, see, even in the ancient time they knew it was best. Now men have no true value and neither do women.
Whoever thinks cooking and cleaning is being a slave to their husband then something is emotionally wrong or they are insecure. Alot of the women that said these bitter things about home making were probably single, done wrong badly, or lesbian. Also, people do not care about being rich in love when it regards the family first, they wanna be rich in money first therefore they do not have room for the love part. Sad.
Women can work if they want to, I appreciate that option and get an education, but a lot of the people who were fighting for it were against being a "slave" to their husband. That very thing right there is what I am against, the thing is, saying that didn't give us an "option", we HAVE to work, that's where it got us. I plan on getting an education and a job but if I can be a houswife then I will be one.

There was never a time when women didn't work very hard. Back during the industrial period many women and children did work. Also, housework "back in the day" used to be a full day of hard work and required a lot of skills. Today that isn't true. If you want to be a housewife, go for it. Most women like to work, and most men help with the housework.
I admire strong women who get an education and have a career.

Yes the old model has alot going for it doesn't it?? Men need that as well. Gloria Steinem admitted openly that the feminist movement failed - many women are now very tired and bitter and single - maybe we can shift to the right somewhat and bring the family back to where it should be without destroying the workable
independence women need in case the man decides to leave or dies. I am really old fashioned in this but have grave reservations about(so called men) keeping up their half of the bargain without ditching the family or behaving like a child.
Part of being a man is having the resources to win a woman's
trust and favor and nurture it during the marriage with all the problems marriage brings to the table. This will also entail being the leader of the family and the wife needs to be somewhat submissive to him or it doesn't work.

As strange as it sounds, women had to do it all back in the good old days. Taking care of kids, doing housework, and making dinner has ALWAYS been a full-time job. Your grandparents can tell you that.
You should consider yourself extremely lucky you have the option when so many other women have to take work.

Be careful what you wish for. They may not have left the house to go to a job, but woman busted their azzes raising kids and cleaning, cooking, canning, ect without all the modern conveniences of today. Come to think of it, woman today have it too damned easy!!! Guys are doing the same thing they have always done... work until they die. Women at least have a choice now, where in the past they did not.

I often do pray for such for my sister, at least. She has 7 children and still has to work. Mind you, her husband works. At one time he worked two or three jobs at once, (2 on week days, 1 on the weekend). My mother, other sister, and I babysit her childre on the weekdays. I'm so glad I work at home.
Mind you, it is good that women could vote, own property, etc... However, I do long for the old days when a wife could focus on the children, and not on SO MANY things. However, many are delusional. They think because they are part of the small minority that can survive of one salary, or don't have children that this is the life of all. Just the opposite is true.
There are countless single mothers, or wives whose husbands' jobs cannot suppor them both. This is the true reality.

I agree; putting aside the female liberation against the macho domination debate that has plagued US campuses in the past thirty years; the fact is that corporate America is destroying families by pulling everyone at home to join the work force. Women these days are overstressed, overworked and plagued with unhappy relationships. It is difficult for one man to work and be able to bring the butter and bread based on the high costs of everything these days.

Women have always worked dear. All over the world women work. In the USA and some other places in the last century it is now common for women to get paid for the work that they do, and to have control of the money they earn.

Am I the only one who wants to be somebody?
Women work not just to not depend on some man, but to strive to shine. Why not more smart women in school books and in history pages? Women have a long way to go forward, why think of going back?

The only reason women have to go out to work is because they want so many more material things than women used to want a few years back. I don't want and I don't work.
