Japan is one example. More often, it is socialism and communism that are "installed" with the use of a gun/weapons.

The politicians are in love with "Wars on (this and that)", and with appointing czars to run those wars.

Face it, the only military engagement that ended with a satisfactory conclusion between WW2 and the present, was Granada. That was a definite win with satisfactory results. I attribute that win to the fact that the press was kept in the dark until it was too late for them to undermine our military. America has gone too far left and has become too politically correct to win a war. Maybe, just maybe, that is changing.

America is losing the War against America from the left, but maybe that is changing also.

In response to:

"does anyone have one example where freedom and democracy were installed, by a gun"

I can't think of any example of a country winning their freedom without fighting for it. Millions of people have died in the fight for freedom and democracy. It's a noble effort and one worth attempting, no matter the consequences.

However, I believe you are referring to the current situation in Iraq. We are attempting to give the Iraqis the opportunity to become a free, democratic nation. They don't seem to relish that goal.

When you read the history of this time, I think that the pundits will say that the United States was naive in believing that they could install a democracy in Iraq. But, they might look favorably on our heroic attempt.

We tried. We failed. Next problem.

Example where freedom and democracy were installed by a gun: American Revolution.

The war on terrorism can't be won. Same goes for the rest. There are only margins of improvement in the incidence of terrorism. It will never be obliterated

I really have a problem with the idea of defining the efforts against conceptual systems like terrorism or the drug culture in terms of "war." We fight wars against countries or political systems, not vague concepts which derive mainly from cultural ideas. None of the efforts listed can be fought as a "war" in the conventional sense, especially when it comes to terrorism, which is about as unconventional as it comes. These are ongoing efforts, with no way to declare winners or losers, because the problems will always be there.

. One of the world's major religions, it predominates in Europe and the Americas, where it has been a powerful historical force and cultural influence, but it also claims adherents in virtually every country of the world.
Central Beliefs

The central teachings of traditional Christianity are that Jesus is the Son of God, the second person of the Trinity of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; that his life on earth, his crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension into heaven are proof of God's love for humanity and God's forgiveness of human sins; and that by faith in Jesus one may attain salvation and eternal life (see creed). This teaching is embodied in the Bible, specifically in the New Testament, but Christians accept also the Old Testament as sacred and authoritative Scripture.

Christian ethics derive to a large extent from the Jewish tradition as presented in the Old Testament, particularly the Ten Commandments, but with some difference of interpretation based on the practice and teachings of Jesus. Christianity may be further generally defined in terms of its practice of corporate worship and rites that usually include the use of sacraments and that are usually conducted by trained clergy within organized churches. There are, however, many different forms of worship, many interpretations of the role of the organized clergy, and many variations in polity and church organization within Christianity.

Before you think of winning any of the wars you mentioned, there is one other you have to win first. It's called the war on 'electing idiot leaders worldwide'. This one can be won by no pain, no bloodshed, just by voting intelligently.
