Iran will win, because the world has ignored their nuclear ambitions and they have a new ally in the religious Shi'ite government in Iraq.

Iraq won't win, that's for sure. America definitely won't win. Even if democracy succeeds in Iraq, America won't benefit from it. Terrorism won't magically disappear. We'll still be out billions and have thousands dead.

Whoever sides with the U.S. ;-)

The U.S. is building several military bases in Iraq, so the military has no intentions of leaving. Whoever wins will likely do so with the support of the U.S. military. If I'm wrong, it will be both a very bloody and embarrassing loss for the U.S. and could spell change for the rest of the world -- possibly even a freedom fight by much of the 3rd world against the U.S. and Europe. But we pretty much have the 3rd world nations on a short leash, so I doubt that will happen anytime soon.

Today, democracy is often assumed to be liberal democracy, a form of representative democracy where the ability of elected representatives and the will of the majority to exercise decision-making power is subject to the rule of law, and usually moderated by a constitution which emphasizes the protection of liberties, freedoms, and rights of individuals and minorities. This form of government has become increasingly common in recent times, so that almost half of the world's population now lives under liberal democratic governments
