i'm a young black muslim(17 yrs old) living in the middle east and you see most of the arabs are really racists towards black people(especially sudanese)living in there countries......in lebanon for example they call blacks...******* slaves....!
and there's a joke which is said a lot betwwen arab people about blacks and it goes like this...........once there was a sudanese(black)walking in a jungle where he encountered a lion.he was so afraid and begged the lion not to eat him.....the lion said=dont be afraid the doctor told me not to eat fried meat as it will raise the cholestrol level in my blood!..................
you get it....fried=black!
you now see how racists they are...but ofcourse there are some exceptions...not all arabs are racists......but unfortunately i lived among the racists ones most of the time....especially in school.....!

i wont leave islam(i'm proud to be someone from the nation of islam) its not a racist religion but most of the arabs (in their countries)nowadays unfortunately are.....!
its like the kkk which was a racist christian sect.....does that mean christianity is a racist religion?!...ofcourse not......so dont relate the racist people with their religions....they might not be doing what their religion asks from them......

I feel horrible that you had that experience. I'm glad to hear that you're no longer living with that burden day-to-day, and I think it's smart of you to want to get it out of your head so that you're not carrying negative baggage.

But to your question:
The best way to do self-therapy is to organize your thoughts and find a way to help someone else. Believe it or not, if you can find someone (of any color, creed, or culture) who is suffering discrimination, and you help them deal with it, it will have a healing effect on you, because you will be sharing all those coping skills that allowed you to survive, and you will be putting a stick in the eye of everyone who ever mistreated you.

The added benefit of this approach is that you don't have to spend hours on a couch, reliving every moment of the painful experiences, nor will it involve any psychotropic drugs.

Good luck to you, and I'm so happy that you haven't walled yourself off from being able to feel.

I feel for you..I understand what you say..i am glad that you have no desire to leave Islam.. it's hard to say what to do..i have dealt with racism for many years cuz of my children..But i am proud of myself and my family..So now i just let you think the way you want to ...I am not going to say i don't get upset..i have mouthed off some..but it don't do any good to get in a shouting match with someone..it solves nothing..And i would rather keep my mouth closed and let the other person be racist--now who looks like the fool?? It is very hard to ignore the comments of people sometime--but i never give them the satisfaction of knowing that they hurt my feelings.. I will wait till i get home and break down.. all i can say..Try to be the strongest person you can be.. Words are just words..they are meant to hurt your feelings..its not right ..but we will never be able to stop the ignorance of some people..They will get what they deserve on judgment day....

You do have a problem. Most black people I know are more tolerant get upset only when racist humor is carried to the limit, and people know a little goes a long way.
