I have a Dell Insprion 1000 that is virtually dead (if you adjust the screen at all, or even bump it for that matter it locks the hard drive and kills the video to the screen (anyone know how to fix this?)) and I was wondering if there is any way to get Dell to replace it even though it is no longer under warranty?

go to Circuit City or Best Buy to have them look at it. I personally had bad luck with a local computer "fix it" shop, I took my dell laptop to Circuit City after, they fixed it correctly and charged me less than the local place did.
Sorry I don't know any loopholes...
