Going through these pages, I am very surprised at the number of people who don't, for whatever set of reasons, seem to be able to get a job. Because they don't usually mention age, experience, education, etc. I have concluded these are for the most part kids or young adults. Obviously there are some adult/mature people who are between jobs. But, our overall economy is alright at the present. A significant number of jobs are being created. Why are you having trouble getting a job?

We all have our reasons, many are lazy, many are trying to find an easy answer such as non-existant get rich quick internet scams. Many like me are displaced worker who really want to work.

I am 48, I have an excellant work history but I was laid off of my job as an art director. 3 1/2 years ago I moved to where I live because it was near my work in an economically depressed area where I could buy a wonderful house for almost nothing. I DID NOT QUIT MY JOB AND I WANT TO WORK! There is not one single job available in the community where I live (again I moved here to be close to where I was working) and the nearest job market is an hour away. I can not afford the gas to make that trek everyday looking for work (because I am unemployed) so every single day I use the internet to check out job oppenings in Ohio newspapers and I drive when I have real job leads or an interview. And although I've been working as an artist I am realistic and apply for many other jobs for which I'm qualified. Competition is feirce. I play here because I do have time and I truly try to help others, and I do.

Well for me, it was partly cause of laziness. I was searching for jobs, but I wasn't getting applications and turning them in every week until recently.

Another reason is cause I'm going to college, and I wanted to focus mostly on schoolwork, rather than having to worry about stuff at work.

A third reason is that when I did apply, no one seemed to want me. I never got called back, and when I called, it made me look desperate (I was taught not to call them, that they'll call me, but that was about 10 years ago). Heck, out of about some 20 applications I filled out, I only got responses from 3 of them (fortunately I managed to get a job with one of them).

I sometimes wonder if it's cause of my job history. I've been in the Army, and before that, I worked a paid internship at an insurance company for my senior year in high school (part of my business classes there), and I also worked in a restaurant as a dishwasher and busboy. I swear, they must not have believed me or something lol (it does sound far-fetched, but I did do that stuff, and have the paperwork to back it up if needed).

All of us are not having trouble finding a job. I am presently a successful business owner for the past 11 years. I am transitioning careers. I have just completed my MBA and I am on a warpath to switch careers. Sometimes when you are the Chief for so long it takes time to transit into being an Indian

You are absolutely right the unemployment rate is at its lowest right now. I can't believe people are just too damn fusee about what job they want. I am an experience babysitter and if the people who hire me don't need me, I just take any job. Mowing lawns, which used to be a chore. Clean houses. or take a job in retail (seasonally).

Because they're spending too much time on Yahoo Answers and not enough time actively job hunting, maybe?? :)
