Definition:
Heat rash occurs in babies when the pores of the sweat glands become blocked. This generally happens when the weather is hot or humid. As the infant sweats, little red bumps and possibly tiny blisters, form because the blocked glands cannot clear the sweat.

Alternative Names:
Heat rashes and babies; Prickly heat rash; Red miliaria
Information:
To avoid heat rash, keep your baby cool and dry during warm weather.

Some helpful suggestions:

During the hot season dress your baby in light-weight, soft, cotton clothing. Cotton is very absorbent and keeps moisture away from the baby's skin.
If air conditioning is not available a fan may help evaporate moisture and cool the infant. Place the fan far enough away that there is only a gentle breeze drifting over the infant.
Avoid the use of powders, creams, and ointments. Baby powders don't improve or prevent heat rash. Creams and ointments tend to keep the skin warmer and block the pores.

Heat Rash On Babies

If it is really bad you can put a little desatin on it. Make sure to keep her really dry. All babies get it, along with baby pimples and all sorts of bumps. It's not a big deal. Like I said though if it is really bad put a little diaper rash cream on it and it will be fine. Also a little baby powder, but put the powder in your hand and rub your hands together, then rub whats on your hands on to your baby. That will help keep her dry in this heat.

heat rash is really no big deal, you just need to expose the area to normal conditions, like if the rash is on his/her back take off their shirt so that the air can reach it, do not apply any really greasy creams, just lotion would be ok, it may take a while to go away, just keep them calm and take them away from the source of heat, heat rash and another child hood rash look quite the same and it's called fifths disease and it may be that, i might take them to the doctor if the rash doesn't start to disapate in a few hours, like 10 to 12.

About 2% to 3% of the general population experience excessive sweating a condition called hyperhidrosis which can occur with or without a trigger. The most common type is called primary (or focal) hyperhidrosis and it has no known cause, although it seems to run in families. You may have a different type of excessive sweating called secondary (or generalized) hyperhidrosis.
This means that your symptoms may be due to an underlying medical condition or disease (e.g., nerve damage or a hormone disorder), or due to a side effect of a medication you are taking. Talk to your doctor.

You should not use Powders on your newborn.....My Pediatrician said NO WAY and I found this when looking for some actual facts to back me up:

'Baby powder': Not for babies anymore?
Answer
In the past, it was common to use talcum powder or cornstarch to protect a baby's skin and absorb excess moisture. However, doctors no longer recommend these products because inhaled talcum powder and cornstarch can be intensely irritating to a baby's lungs. In addition, caked powder in diaper creases can encourage bacteria growth.

You need to dress your baby very light and keep her/him cool/Dry. Try not to let him get to hot or sweaty. You can carry your recieving blankets around with you and dab him dry and fan him with your check book or something when you are out in the heat!!!
