There are 2 power plugs for newer mother boards. theres a 20 or 24 pin block then there is a 4 pin block with yellow and black cables. This supplies power to the processor and if you dont have it plugged in it will just sit there dead.

Another possibility is that one of the cards are defective. Remove everything in the computer except for the memory , videocard and drives. Try starting the computer. If it boots, start plugging cards back in one at a time and trying to boot. If it fails to start after putting your modem in (for example) then you know the modem is bad. Its just a process of elimination.

If it still doesnt work, unplug drives from the mainboard one at the time.

SIMILAR PROBLEM HERE! I DÄ°SCOVERED WHAT IS WRONG AFTER REINSTALL XP.

First before change the mainboard you must deactivate and uninstall all of the drivers, so the computer may boot with generic drivers. If you dont, as the first VGA drivers will prevent booting. And it may occur if the chipsets are different, because Windows XP (and others) uses some drivers for chipsets. You must find another blank harddisk and install a fresh xp and then attach your old system harddisk to your system. then you may use all of your datas on your harddisk, then you may put together in one and make a blank partition for a new (fresh) system.

did u take off the jumper for the cmos clear?
yeah if u run the board with just the motherboard, ram, graphics, it should post fine.
but if u take the memory out and have the pc speaker connected it should beep like crazy with a memory alarm.

It could be the battery supply.
