He's not joking. He's just testing to see how you'll react when he drops you.

Next time he says so, pick up your stuff without saying a word or arguing and start walking away. It he's joking he'll come after you. If he comes after you and stops you, then tell him that him saying that to you even jokingly means he really does. Then tell the moron to stop joking around about something as serious as that.

Then if he truly is joking, don't worry about it but if it makes you uneasy, bring it to his attention and make sure he understands how you feel on that situation. He should listen and stop, I know because I was like that with my boyfriend (joking around that I'll break up with him) and he didn't like it so I stopped. He should respect how you feel towards this and other issues that may come up in your relationship.

Tell him that this joke is not funny at all and yes - be happy that he is just joking :) But talk to him and explain that jokes of that kind make you feel awful.
