To start God doesn't have a religion men does! The BIBLE stand for Basic Instruction Before Living Earth. It's a manual and would apply. It's always best to married someone who is already on the same path as you.

The Bible tells us to not be "Yoked with an unbeliever"; however, God also speaks that the "Unsaved" individual is sanctified through the Christian partner. I feel God will bless a marriage between a believer and non believer.

An important Scripture in understanding this subject is 2 Corinthians 6:14: "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers." That last word, "unbelievers" is of key importance. A Christian should not marry a non-Christian--no matter how kind and good they are.

The bible only applies to the marriage if both people agree with its teachings. One of the people can't throw "you should do this because its in the bible" at the other person unless the other person believes in it too. A marriage like that is totally compatible, as long as both are respectful of each other's right to different beliefs.

Being Christian means the belief in Christ as God's son. Non-Christians believe in God just the same. I'd say yes. None of us really know who "God" is so any religion could be right. Or none of them.

Congratulations on wanting to change your life!

Acts 2:38 - "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. "

The first step to obtaining salvation is to repent. You must apologize for your sins, and ask God for forgiveness. It takes sincerity. You must mean it. And you must be truly ready in your heart to turn away from the world. Also, have faith that ALL of God's word is right. He obviously wants to do something with you else you wouldn't want this change.

But, because you can't stop at step 1.. I'll just give you the rest...

Next you must be baptized in Jesus' name for the remission of sin. This is the cleansing process. Even Jesus himself was baptized. Not because he had to be cleansed.. but because he was our example.

Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. This is when you allow God to come into your body. And His Spirit begins to dwell with you. Many people do not believe in this, but as someone who has experienced it, I can tell you, it's the best feeling in the world.

There are people who believe that you only need to "confess with your mouth and believe in your heart."

Romans 10:9 - "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

That scripture is saying that if you believe that God raised Jesus from the dead, then you have faith, and through your faith you can obtain salvation. But the Bible also says:

Matthew 7:21 - "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. "

This is how we know that simply confessing that we believe in Jesus is not enough. We must receive the keeping power he has provided us with. We do this through receiving the Holy Ghost.

Acts 1:8 - "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

But to obtain salvation, we must follow the commandments laid out in Acts 2:38.

One thing I say, and this is for anything in your life. If you don't believe or you have doubts.. always research it for yourself. Ask God to open up your understanding. Have a receptive heart and He will lead you to the truth.
Best Wishes!
