yes, the electricity or in another words the energy can be sent as waves. the waves are then converted to electricity.

Tesla was interested in this phenomena. Look up Tesla coils. The idea of harvesting solar power and transmitting the power is a viable idea. How do you keep someone else from setting up a receiver and taping into the energy bypassing the company that built the equipment stealing electricity.
This is done today with transformers. The electrical energy is converted from expanding and collapsing magnetic fields in the to core of the transformer. The windings on the other side then generate electricity because the shared core has a pulsating magnetic field induced by the electricity.
There have been people arrested for stealing electricity from the transmission lines of electric utilities. At night, the rancher would extend a home made coil within 10 feet of the power lines. The collapsing field would generate enough electricity in his home made device that he could power lights in his barn and a water well. He forgot to take it down one day and a utility worker saw it when he was checking the power lines for problems.

Well, yes. Lightning, for instance. However, you may be thinking along the line of "possible AND practical", which is not as easy.
Nicola Tesla did a lot of work and experimentation about 100 years ago. One of his idea was that electricity could be broadcasted, basically through induction. The problem with that is it not easily controlled, it could fry anything too close, and so on.

Basically impractical, no thanks to one over R squared. Most of the energy broadcast from your antenna goes to places where it isn't useful, and power is too expensive to throw away that way. An AM broadcast radio stattion typically broadcasts 50,000 watts; that's over five dollars an hour just so you can hear your favorite tumes, and your radio is only picking up microwatts. Another responder correctly noted that Tesla did some work on this about a century ago, but got nothing much done.

Just a dimmly remembered thought. A fellow by the name of George ???? Tesla did some experiments with sush a transmission device in the early 1900's

There was a proposal a while back for satellites to collect solar energy and transmit it back to earth via concentrated microwave radiation, where it would be converted to electricity somehow. I don't know what happened to this, and I don't know if it was feasible, but it was an interesting theory.

sound a bit dangerous.... microwave transmitters can kill you if you stand within a few feet of one ...that's why there up very high....
Can you imagine 240v at 13amps being "Transmitted" .... NO i think not .... even "Line of Sight" TX would kill all in its path.... Birds / YOU / etc.. ( one day ...it may be possible but not now )
