Well, it's not exactly a self help book, more like a God help book called The Bible. I received the new international version as a teen and it was the most helpful book ever for building my self esteem, especially the new testament.
The book of Proverbs was very helpful in a practical, relavant way. It gave me wisdom to make right choices, know who my real friends were, etc.

"Red Flags! How to Know When You're Dating a Loser"
by Gary Aumiller and Daniel Goldfarb.

Totally comprehensive analysis of specific types of guys that will bring you nothing but trouble and sadness. It describes all their quirky personality traits, and gives a girl a chance to figure out problem guys before it's too late. Also a very good reference for GUYS... so you can work on those problems before they become part of your personality... keeps you from being a loser.

"He's Just Not That Into You"
by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo

Wonderfully funny and TOTALLY true... this book describes how a guy acts when he REALLY likes you, and how he acts when he doesn't like you but is just too shallow to get rid of you. Girls need to read this, and understand that you CAN'T make a guy love you... Jeeeezzz!!

(I'm a Mom of grown men... so I know this is true).

Both books are very short and easy to read. Get 'em.

"The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens" is great, and there's a workbook to use alongside it. I know someone who uses this book with at-risk teens at a middle school in Michigan.

"Life 101" Its not made specifically for teens, but I read it when I was 17 and I enjoyed it a lot. Gave me a whole new outlook on life. I recommend it.
