My sister wants to make her prom dress for her senior yr. in high school. She has been surfing the internet for patterns and can't find any. Does anyone know of any good websites to check out to find patterns or just pictures, so she can get some idea of what kind of dress she wants to make. She has typed "prom dress patterns" into a search engine and has no luck finding what she wants.

try formal dresses.evening gowns. etc.bridesmaid dresses.
MAking a dress on your own can get pretty pricey once you buy the material etc.
If shes not great at sewing she might wan tt o buy or get some help.
I had mine made ( many years ago ) and it got exp. but no one had one like mine and I still have it.
She could also buy a simple dress , like a plain black one and add something special like beaded trim etc that she purchases, or a fancy belt etc.

I use to work for bcbg and we always had the biggest volume in dress selling during prom season. you can maybe get some ideas from the website www.bcbg.com or stop by a store and try on dresses to first find out what shapes fits your body the best and then you can look for patterns and colors from there.

have you tried facbric and/or craft stores, they usually have books there. best of luck.

Go to the fabric store and look thru the catalogs. Or maybe check to see if McCalls or Simplicity has a web site.
Another thing to try to search for is bridesmaid dresses or formals.

try just searching for prom dresses and look at examples rather than typing in "prom dress patterns"

go to the mall, look at prom dresses. let that help her.

Nope. Just buy one. Don't be so picky. It's just a prom. It's not like your going to see the queen.

i prefer a solid color, cuz the patterns may take the focus away from her face's beauty! :P
