Did you know that the same 25% of Americans don't know much of anything as they constitute the uneducated or poorly educated. And half of them are illiterate as well.

How do we fix this problem?

To be well educated requires a respect and enjoyment of learning. This usually come about from family. We must create a strong family structure that values learning and education.

The families that do that today produce the 75% that know what revolves around what as well as a great deal more.

The families that don't....well I don't have a clue as to how to solve that problem. I do know that throwing money at these people does not work at all. An entitlement culture has no motivation to improve itself.

Any thoughts?

I think your question is skewed. The reason I say this is because most of the time people asking these types of questions ask them at inopportune moments.

I don't believe that 25% of Americans believe that the sun revolves around the earth. It is probably in the neighborhood of <1%

intellectual morons," smart people who make themselves stupid by letting "ideology do their thinking"; stock or fanatical answers, bad logic and lies are all part of their putative arsenal.

Why do well-educated antiwar activists call the president of the United States “the new Hitler” and argue that the U.S. government orchestrated the September 11 attacks?

Why does Al Gore believe that cars pose “a mortal threat to the security of every nation”?

Why does the Princeton professor known as the father of the animal rights movement object to humans eating animals but not to humans having sex with them—and why does PETA defend that position?

In other words, why do smart people fall for stupid ideas

It is startling how many Americans—and particularly how many media, academic, and political elites—fall for bad ideas. The trouble is, their lies become institutionalized as truth, and we all suffer as a result.

•How the environmental movement, spawned by a “scientist” whose doomsday predictions are almost always wrong, has bred fanaticism, stupidity, and dishonesty

How the hero of the animal rights crowd is a crank who promotes infanticide and euthanasia

•How a scientific fraud—and pervert—launched the sexual revolution

•How abortion rights activists ignore (or cover up) the fact that their matron saint advocated eugenics and concentration camps

•How our universities have become hothouses of leftist ideology

•How historians and journalists have airbrushed history to turn a racial separatist into a civil rights icon

They are education rejects who went to school to socialize and not learn a thing. As as college educator who is a supervisor of student teachers, I see all types and levels of students and do not find this surprising. A lot of low level placed students do not give two hoots as to what is being taught but are there to see their Friends and be seen. It's sad.....no wonder they end up quiting after HS and ending up at food service low paying jobs for the rest of their lives...then they wonder where the schools FAILED them!!!!

I do. Liberals think the entire universe revolves around them. OK, how about Bono and babs and Oprah and, oh yeah, Hilary.
I tell them, I am off my meds ( for pain) and can think clearly now. I suggest they do the same.

Didn't know that. But I do know that there is a flat-earth society that believes all the space shots and pictures that have been taken are faked!
