Today you just need an open USB port. Usually you just install the drivers off the disk and you are good to go. Windows XP will probably already have the drivers, even.

A computer and the web cam you are going to buy. Also, broadband would be recommended as web cams and dial up don't go together all that well (to slow).

Buy a good webcam, make sure it connects with usb port, read the directions, then install.. most webcam boxes will tell you what os they are compatible with, make sure the one you buy is compatible with your puter and system.
