Each engine is different, but most of the time, there is a big hose going from the radiator to the engine. On the engine end, undo the bolts going into the engine. Radiator fluid will come out when you do this, so don't do it when the engine it hot. Underneath the cover the bolts hold will be the thermostat. Pull out the old thermostat and put a new one in. You may have to replace the gasket as well.

Follow the UPPER radiator hose to the engine.
Where the hose connects is the thermostat housing.
Drain the coolant, remove the hose clamp, take out the two housing bolts, and remove the housing.
It may be kinda stuck, so you may need to pry it off with a flat screwdriver or something.
When you put the new thermostat in, make sure you put the spring side down into the engine.

type in : install thermostat in your search engine and you will find the answer you are looking for . It is a very easy job , it usually is only two bolts to remove and replace it. Pay attention to which end is facing you after you open the thermostat housing . Make sure you remove all of the old thermostat gasket (Usually made of paper or composite fibers)before you replace it .

1. wait till it cools
2. drain radiator into bucket.
3. remove two or 3 bolts on housing.....(where the radiator hose goes into the top of the block.)
4. replace thermostat. AND GASKET!
5. reassemble and fill the rad. run it for at least 20 minutes as the thermostat Will open requiring more fluid.
(DON"T USE WATER) It boils in the summer and freezes in the winter.
This is just the basics the location of your Thermostat depends on the make of car. Usually about a 30 minute job.

usually the thermostat is at the end of the top large hose from the radiator
You should see a cone shaped part that the hose hooks to,
this is bolted with 2 bolts
remove these bolts and that is where the thermostat is
But First
Drain your antifreeze from the radiator into a container to avoid spillage all over your floor or door yard

It depends on what make and model the vehicle is. Also remember to tighten one side a turn and then the other side a turn because if not then you will snap the water neck and have to replace it.
