First she is a great confided in you. Second, you have to make sure this young lady gets a physical examination ASAP! To make sure if there was any physical damage done. Third, contact the local authorities including school principal and nurse possibly be present for you to talk one on one with the young lady. Forth, this is the most difficult part, is to hold her hand, as she tells her story. Your being there is a source of strength for her and she probably looks up to you as a role model. Be it as it may she might not have a strong mother figure in her life to confide in but with you holding her hand and she tell her story you can tell if she is telling the truth by the way her hand responds to your holding it. It is most critical that you seek out all possible solutions others including myself have given you and you be strong. You have to be strong for she is looking to you for guidance. Undaunted and if she doesn't have someone to turn to, could lead to an unfortunate situations that are far worse. Good Luck and God Bless.

The first response should always be 'It's not your fault and nothing you did could have caused it". Then urge her to talk to a parent, teacher, counsellor, priest or doctor. The fact that she is talking to you shows that she wants to talk about it. If she will not talk to anyone else but you, just listen. She needs to know that going to the police is an option, but not a responsibility. Make sure that she knows that she is in control of how it is dealt with. It is her choice who to confide in and her choice about whether charges need to be laid. She will be feeling powerless so make sure that she knows that she has the power now.
