I have normal skin (neither dry, nor oily and hardly get spots). I wear Nars makeup primer, before applying oil free foundation and oil free powder. However, I find that a few hours later my face appears 'shiny' - i blot with tissue, because adding more powder would just cause a build up. Any advice on getting rid of shine?

You must use a feather light dusting powder. Once the shine returns the first layer has been absorbed anyway.

It's almost impossible to stop it. You've got the right idea by using blotting papers. If you are using an actual tissue (i.e. Kleenex) then try some of the blotting papers...most are like a thin sheet of tissue paper but some (like Clean & Clear's) are plastic. They'll remove the oil but leave the makeup. You might also try using some MAC Blot powder afterward to touch up with, it is good at removing shine without depositing visible powder.

Keep your powder with you. Models carry a powder compact around 24/7 to avoid a shine. It will take 2 seconds of your time every hour or so depending on your skin type to just touch up so why not do it. Make up doesn't stay on forever.
