I think a spring snapped internally, I have a parts motor. What should I be looking for when I tear into it? Is it as simple as removing a cover? Help!!!

Remove the kick start lever, and the shift lever if on that side. Use an impact driver to remove the screws holding on the case cover. Your local auto parts will have an impact driver if you don't . Pull of the cover and you should a coiled spring around the shaft of the kick start lever replace it and reassemble the bike.

EASY!

I had the same on a 750-4 the return spring under the side cover is broken. Pull the side cover and replace it or on my old 125 the spring was on the outside.
