The best place to buy a hamster is in a petstore that has giant open enclosures that allow customers to reach in and pick up hamsters for a quick cuddle. This allows the hamsters to become used to being handled so they are friendly when you get it home. If you buy a hamster from a place where they are untouched behind glass you must then work much much harder at teaching them to be friendly.
Another option would be to check with your spca. Most rescue all pets and not just cats and dogs.

Try pets mart that is where i got my sons chinchilla. He came with a 14 day guarantee that if he changed his mind or the thing died i could return it and get a new one or a refund. Also there pets are Vet Checked, which is not a guarantee but it does give a persona peace of mind when they spend over 350 to get the stuff it needs,
