There is *no* way to know when you will ovulate in advance, and no way to even estimate it if you are irregular!!
A woman ovulates about 2 weeks (typically 12-16 days) before her *next* period. It is the ovulation that *causes* the period. There is absolutely no way to know less than 3-4 days in advance when you will ovulate, even if your cycles are always regular.
If you are trying to get pregnant, then you need to read _Taking Charge of Your Fertility_ by Toni Weschler. It will explain to you how to *reliably* determine when you are approaching ovulation. Then, you need to have sex during the day or several days before ovulation in order to conceive.

I agree with the answerer who asked, how can you know you will ovulate on a date when you're irregular. That said, see a gynocologist to make sure there is no medical reason for the irregularity, check your thyroid levels, and have an ultrasound to check for abnormalities. Request an internal ultrasound to rule out having a septated uterus and endometriosis.
Then, track your basal temperatures for a few cycles. You should notice a spike in temperature about three to four days before your cycle. That's an ovulation happening. So, for the cycle you want to get pregnant on, track temps and when the spike happens, have sex. It's important to track the temp for a few cycles to know what is normal for you. Your basal temp is the temp in your vagina.
Hope this helps and good luck!

If your periods are irregular that means your ovulation is irregular so how do you know you will be ovulating on Aug. 10th? Try charting your basal body temps (www.fertilityfriend.com) to verify that you are ovulating. Also, pick up the book Taking Charge of your Fertility by toni weschler.
