No. We keep all money seperate. I can't stand his way of dealing with money and he can't stand mine. As long as all the bills get paid by one or the other of us I'm happy.

Absolutely not! My husband can make a dollar spread further than I can. However, both of our paychecks go into one acct. and I control the money, ie. pay bills, etc. Once a week he goes to the bank and withdraws enough money for himself and for me to do our running for a week and brings it home and gives me my share. Seems to work for me.

No, that sounds like I have a son not a Husband. With sons they grow up and get a woman who they love and want to take care of. In other words taking a man's money putting him with allowance is just asking for him to leave you for a woman who will respect him as a man.

If he was spending the money like a fool (gambling, drinking, drugs, buying useless crap) and not supporting his family then hell yes I would want to put the money in my bank account and give him allowance.
Luckily my husband is smart with his money, saves some and spends wisely. So we have joint bank accounts and he takes care of the bills and finances and that's just fine with me.

My fiance and I are just starting this practice!! But it is what works best for us. I am really good with budgeting and he is not, so if we left it up to him, we'd be broke 4 days after payday. What we have done is add his name as a depositor on my account only. On paydays, his employer deposits a specified amount to my account and the remainder goes into his account. The amount that goes to my account pays the bills, and then we set a particular amount aside every month and put it into savings.
If it wasn't for his inability to budget, we'd just have joint accounts, but this is what seems to work for us. If he knows he only has a certain amount of money to spend until his next payday, he won't spend money designated for bills. It would seem unfair, but we both work full-time and bring home about the same amount of money. We compromised on any overtime he works (as I am salary and don't get paid overtime)....he keeps part of it and the rest goes into savings.

Only if he has serious money management issues and only if he trusts that you will do the right thing with the money as well.
Otherwise, he is the man and would probably feel slighted if he is not the one paying all the bills and taking care of the family.

No, I'm not sure how fair that is, unless we're both on some kind of budget to help us save money or something. If I did something like that, I would have to set the same spending rules for myself or I would feel like a hypocrite.

My sis does that. Her husband is a laborer who hauls drywall for a residing. She is a stay at homestead mom. He walks in the door, hands his paycheck over and she or he deposits the examine in HER account. She provides him $20 a week allowance and that meant to pay for his beverages for artwork too. So for sure i think of it extremely is incorrect. no longer in basic terms that yet i think of it extremely is be-littling for a guy.
