If you ever notice when you hang out with someone who doesn't like themselves the entire conversation is dominted by their self-depricating comments and you trying to counter them with something to pump up their sagging self-esteem. When you hang out with someone who likes who they are you can concentrate on what's important: making fun of everyone else!

I learned a long time ago, that a person needs to like themselves, before other people will like them. If your not happy with who you are, it shows in your personality. And tends to drive people away. When you like yourself for who you are, You are a happy person. And other people are attracted to happy people. It's the law of nature.

If you love yourself, then people love you. If you are confident in yourself, then other people are confident in you. I used to be a really quiet kid. I didn't really like myself. Then I realized that if I loved myself other people would like me too. Now I have a ton of friends. Egotistic people, however, take this philosophy waaaaaay too far.

Dear Ali,
People like people like themselves because they are the ones who they can easily understand, and who understand them. People who are easily understood offer eachother security and protection. They are like a tightly knit family.

Now about your English. You asked: "why do people like people who like them selves?" People who like themselves do not like other people, they like themselves.... It is like asking; why do people who are in love with themselves have so many friends?? They don't.

because of the saying treat other how you would like to be treated. if a person has low self esteem, sometimes, they don't care about others. on the other hand, if someone thinks too much of himself, then they don't care about others either. either way it's always good to maintain a balance.

It is important to have good self esteem. It is important to like yourself. However, do not confuse arrogance with good self esteem. It is on the contrary, just the opposite.

If you don't like yourself, then why should anyone else? You put out the idea to the world that you're not worth liking.

People like people who ARE like themselves? OR
People like people who DO like themselves?

People sometimes like people who are like themselves because of their common thinking and goals.

People usually like people who do like themselves because those people are normally happy, content, and a pleasure to be around.
