Here's a few tips that will help:

1) Do give as much detail as possible. If your question is about computers, what kind of computer do you have and what version of Windows or Mac OS are you using? If it's about a program, include what version you're using and any other pertinent information.

2) Don't put your whole message in the subject line. This ties in with #1 because you can't really give a detailed description with only 100 characters to work with.

3) Don't ask "Where can I download (some piece of commercial software) for free" or ask for software registration codes. Public displays of greed usually aren't well-received in Internet communities and aren't legal.

4) Don't ask questions that you can easily answer for yourself by using Google or Wikipedia. And don't ask someone to write a book in response - this forum is for brief Q&As, not multi-volume treatises.

5) Do be polite and say "Thank you" when someone gives you a good answer.

Thanks for reading this.

Thank you for putting that out there.. hope more people read it.
Because we all know that most people are NOT going to read the Community Guidelines, and, of course, the instant gratification of knowing that people take time out of their lives to help, (sometimes help, sometimes smart a**,) kinda slows some people down from doing the research themselves, and of course, some of it just newbies who don't know HOW to do research.
Again, Thanks.

what are you yahoo answers advocate? That is why we do what we want in here because we are free to do so. I think you should try and control something else, like a dog.
But have fun trying to get everyone to follow you.
