Every time i try to do my nails they always get really, i don't know mushy i guess, and the polish gets like really thick on my nail. Also for some reason the slightest touch makes them screwed up!

okay first of all... does this happen EVERY time you do your nails.... and if so then is it the same nail polish every time.... my guess is that the nail polish is a little older and gloppy so when you put it on its gloppy and much to thick to dry very fast (it may even take a few days!) if you think this is the problem then you should buy some new nail polish... get some sort of container and put all your nail polish in the refrigerator... i know it sounds stupid... but it will make your nail polish last forever and it wont dry out or get gloppy. then as far as doing them yourself... don't put it on so thick. if you want the color to show up darker then put on a thin layer... wait 10-20 minutes until its dry and then repeat until the desired effect is shown :-D have a great day! hope it works for ya! <3

Is the actual nail getting "mushy" or is it just the polish?

You may not be letting the polish completely dry before you attempt to do anything.

Nail polish is just like house paint. It takes time to dry. Even the quick drying varieties may seem dry to the touch but underneath, it is still soft.

Sounds like you are applying thick coats. Try 2 thin coats, and let them dry completely between each coat.
They have speed drying polish and nail polish sprays, that help with this problem.

So, whats the question?
Go to a nail salon and get them done.
Also, dont put on nail polish then take it off then put another color on and stuff. It'll mess up the nails

Try not to gob on the polish. A little goes a long way.
Also you should wait 20 minutes before the polish is really set
