My car died and now it will start and idle but it will not drive..we changed the fuel filter and still the same..any ideas?

A problem with your transmission, somewhere along the line. Check the fluid and try to shift it through all the gears. If it refuses, don't force it; tow it to the nearest competent (and ASE-certified) transmission mechanic.

Plymouth is known for having weak transmissions. You may need to transplant a new one, especially if you have never had your car's transmission serviced before.

so the car idles, what happens when you put it in gear, do you hear any noise, does the car jump, if nothing happens check the transmission fluid, if it is full the you may need a transmission repair of some sort, but it can also be alot of other stuff

Check your shift linkage on transmission. Then check fluid level. Maybe change filter and fluid. If all else fails have a mechanic check it out.
