I went back to college when I was 35 in 1997; I went to a Junior College and then transferred to the University in town where I had attended 20 years before but couldn't finish at that time. I graduated 2 years ago with a BA at the age of 41. It was so much better than when I was about 20 years old. I had the self-discipline I did not have at a younger age, I was more mature, motivated, and had all those other experiences before returning that really were a help. I enjoyed attending class with the students younger than myself, I will say I had a edge over them. And, there were some other students close to my age. I also felt more as an equal to my professors, and I was motivated and determined to finish. It was a great experience I finally had the opportunity to fulfill after waiting 20 years to do so. I am so glad I did it! You will be too!

I am over 40 and though I am not returning to college yet, I am considering it. I have investigated a couple of traditional campus options and I have talked at length with a counselor from the on-line college, University of Phoenix.

My mother returned to college at age 60 and earned certification in "Teaching English as a Second Language". While she was in school, I asked her how she was doing, and she said her grades weren't great but were passing. I asked her how she liked her professors and she replied "they seem like nice boys".

I went back to school when I was 47.
Community College - 2 years - A.A. Degree
College - 2 years - B.A. Degree Anthropology
Graduate school - 2 years - M.A. Degree in Latin American Studies.

I had a great time and no problem being accepted by the other (much younger) students.
I can recommend it to everybody.

I plan on going back to school when I'm around 40 -- not because I want to learn anything new. I'll be there hitting on all the hot chicks!

Uncle was 43 when he went back. Now got his Bachelor's in Engineering. It's always a good decision for anyone to go back to school. I'd give any props of making that decision :).

I did, you can too, it was an adventure. A relative applied to quite a few medical schools in the US and has been invited to interview. He is 47, so it can be done! Good luck.

Yes, I am taking one or two courses at a time, so I will be awhile getting my degree. Try to find a grant program to lower the cost.
