Absolutely. The only thing to keep in mind is that it can get messy, so be prepared. You can do it in the shower, or on a towel that you have set aside for it (a friend of mine uses a red one so she doesn't need to worry about stains). If your period isn't too heavy, you can do it without too many precautions, as long as you keep in mind that your menstrual blood will stain if it gets on something.
