I have an older compac computer - 56 modem, 512K memory. when I try to play a movie trailer interview which may only be 2 minutes long - it takes me almost 45 min to an hour for it to "buffer" and play. I do not have DSL in my area and cable is too expensive for me right now. Is there anything else I can do to get the videos to play faster. It is so frustrating. I have Juno as my ISP (dial up).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but there's really not much you can do except hope DSL comes to your area. Only so much data can be forced down a telephone line unless you have DSL or ISDN. You could get ISDN, but it would probably cost more than cable and wouldn't be nearly as fast. Your only real options are to bite the bullet and pay the cable company's extortion (my Roadrunner is $50 a month, so I can sympathize) or live with dialup.

You might try going here and clicking the "Find Service" button to see if there's any kind of DSL available to you:

Well, you are using a modem (dial-up) running 56k and that is very slow when dealing with videos. It is also possible the other end where you are getting the video its throughput may be slow too. Sorry there is not much you can do.

i agree, there's nothing else you can do with a 56k ISP. maybe you can try switching to another isp company that have those "excellerated dial up" stuff they advertise on tv. i dont know if they actually work.

i used to have dial up and i feel your pain.

it's cause you ahve an older comp. getting a faster internet service ( cox?) and a newer comp will help.but defineitly ditch the dial up.

the older computers take longer. The slower connections compound the problem.
