What city do you live in?
Do you have any interests or talents? If so, why not consider joining a local club for that thing, this is a great way to meet people regulary and talk about things you enjoy. The thing about not being yourself is a hard thing to overcome but you just have to, imagine if you put on an accent and made friends with someone, then you let it slip one day, how embarrased would you feel? This is a thing you just have to try to do.
But, even if you try all of that, some places just don't have the right enviroment for you. However, you say that you have moved around and eventually settled in, what did you do last time? Try and repeat it, also, are you living in the same accomodation? Maybe this kind of enviroment gets to you.

I have never felt at home anywhere that I've lived: 19 different places, all in the US though. I began thinking of where I would like to live; what culture, what climate, etc. and now I'm working my way into moving to where I feel I belong. I'll never fit in here.

A few years ago, I lived in Boyle Heights (a region of East Los Angeles) and felt totally out of my element. It was depressing there, no movie theatres, no coffeehouses (none that I saw anyway), no gyms, nothing to do there but shop and eat. I was unemployed without a car at the time, so I didn't have the money to enjoy even that.
Do your best to make new friends, that's all I can say. If you don't like your town, drive to another one nearby and see the sights there.

I live in a place where I feel I don't totally fit in with the culture. I have moved loads and I am gunna move back to the place I lived previously, solely because I don't feel the culture is right where I am. Which is odd because I was born here, but sometimes you just don't fit in!

They say that home is where the heart is... im not too sure on that, but i can say that every city/area has its own rhythm so i can appreciate what you are saying. Maybe you should make more of an effort to meet people...join a class or something where there will be loads of people and network...goodluck by the way, you will be fine.

I always felt that I don't belong in DC. I always wanted to live in Paris, London, New York, or Dubai.

I think home is always where you are born. I've lived in different places all over the world, but Stockport England will always be home, to me.
