As horrible as the American Civil War was, it was necessary to free the African slaves. However, it was the only noble outcome of that war.
In re to your Bush quote, you're going to have to cite your source. If you think I'm going to take your word for it, think again. Be careful others don't misquote you! You are mixing up the fact that he is a religious president, as many U.S. presidents have been, with his entering the Iraqi war.
But, I wish we would get out of Iraq. On that point, you and I might agree. No part of the Middle East warrants U.S. support. Our efforts in Vietnam only gave us a morose, black stone memorial of American lives lost. I'm not sure if we'll gain any more in Iraq. Sometimes, I wish we (the U.S.) could tell the rest of the world to go jump in a tsunami!
