When laying on your back, make sure that you have enough pillows to prop you up and support your head so that you don't get hurt. You should be in a partially sitting position when you are done. I also read alot. In the position I described you should be able to rest the book on your stomach, lay your arms by your side and hold the book without any strain on your wrist or arms.

I read an incredible amount-usually 3 books a week. In bed i find 2 pillows-one flat, one propped at a 45 degree angle behind your back gives me upward to 2 hours before i start to feel stiff in the neck.
Bigger challenge for you which i cant get-
Whats the best position to read a book in a bath. I LOVE reading in the bath but.......
SO AWKWARD!!!!!!!

I usually shift my position when it gets uncomfortable. In your case, I'd try propping up a bunch of my pillows on the headboard, so I could "sit up" and bring my knees up, and put the book or pages in my lap. I might try a side-lying position for awhile as well. The important thing is to keep reading, and give yourself a good light to see by. Sincerely, Eagle.

Lay on your stomach but put like 2 or 3 pillows under your chest/chin so your arms don't get tired from holding yourself up. I can read in bed for hours like this and it's not uncomfortable.

I like on my back with a 25 watt light clipped on the back of the bed (rest of the lights in the room off) along with my XM Satellite radio playing in the background with the AC cranking in the room.

There is no good position to read in bed. Don't be lazy. Read with a chair and table

Sit against the headboard with plenty of pillows to support you, a couple of pillows under your bent knees will help you maintain the position. If necessary, another pillow can hold the book up.

I sometimes read in bed, but I get uncomfortable in about 5 minutes. I read at my kitchen table with my legs on another chair.
