I am a special education teacher with 6 years experience. I went back to college to get my bachelors 20 years after high school. Monetarily is it worthwhile for retirement?

It'll take you 1-2 years to get your masters by which time you'll be 50. At that age you have at least 15 years to go before retirement. With the increased salary a Masters should bring you it should be well worth it. But why not research the matter first? Find out by how much, if any your salary will increase if you have a Masters; will it increase your chances of propmotion etc., and then you will be able to make a more reasonable estimate of how it will affect your pension.

Best of luck.

Absolutely. Having that Masters degree will not only increase your knowledge, it will make jobs available to you in administration that otherwise wouldn't be without the Masters. Go for it!

Why not go back for your Masters for the sake of learning, not for more pennies in your paycheck or pension. I would love to have that opportunity.
